We are currently looking for quality papers for consideration for the Autumn 2010 issue.

[Narrative] in education

The narrative turn in research has been traveling its arc for several decades now transcending the labours of its predecessors in literary studies, historiography and the social sciences. Narrative approaches to research now pervade the social sciences; however, some of the most fertile ground has been found in the world of education. It is an approach “that frequently appeals to teachers and teacher educators” (Clandinin, Pushor & Orr, 2007, p. 21) because of the familiarity and comfort with story that all humans share. This appeal may also derive from the multiplicity/intertextuality of narratives in the lived-world of education and all that entails: school, teacher, student, parents, curriculum and traditions to name but a few.
 
The autumn issue of in education invites submissions that (re)present the explosion of narrative approaches to educational research including, but not limited to, autoethnography, autobiography, poetry, performance ethnography, narrative interviewing, life history, storytelling, ethnographic fiction, life writing, and mixed genres. Authors are encouraged to utilize the digital possibilities of the journal and share their works through images, text, video, audio, hyperlinks and/or an integration of these.

General Call for Submissions

We are currently looking for quality papers for consideration for the Spring 2011 issue.

We encourage the submission of high quality works that travel across the qualitative and quantitative research landscape engendering conversations in thoughtful and innovative ways.This may include but is not limited to works in the following areas: ethnography, poststructuralist, postmodern and postcolonial approaches, queer theory, art-based research, bricolage, narrative inquiry, autoethnography, critical theory, phenomenology, hermeneutics, or mixed methods.
